The Cyber-Tone Vocal Conditioning System (VCS) is built on the principles of Semi-Occluded Vocal Tract exercises, often called SOVT.
SOVT exercises are widely used in vocal pedagogy, speech-language pathology, and professional voice training. Examples include lip trills, humming, and phonating through a straw or tube.
So what’s actually happening?
When you partially narrow the vocal tract while phonating, it increases supraglottal air pressure the air pressure above the vocal folds. That pressure helps balance the forces acting on the vocal folds, allowing them to vibrate more efficiently and with less collision stress.

I'm in my 70s andsing with the music team in our church. I usually do some form of warm ups before the service but noticed that my range was not what it once was or could be again. I'd never worked with singing straws, but was familiaar with the concept so when I ran across Cyber--Tone and the Vocal Conditioning System I was interested in the concept. I haven't had it long. Before this past weeks practice I worked with the VCS for about 10-15 minutes before the music team arrived. I have to say my voice did feel freer and I noticed less of a tendency for my voice to be strained. Then on Sunday, the worship leader asked if I wouldn't mind supporting him with the melody's instead of harmonizing because his voice wasn't where he felt he couldn't carry it on his own. That meant I would be challenging myself to hit notes I wasn't normally comfortable with....but with the VCS warm up I was able to move into that range well enough to where I was able to be the support he needed me to be. This Is the third type of vocal trainer I have tried and it is great! The adjustable resistance is by far the best. In the other two, the resistance is restricted by “clicks.” This trainer allows for more freedom in choosing levels. Definitely a must have if you are interested in developing range, breath support, etc.

I have been using the Cybertone for a week, and I have noticed a difference! I am an alto, Choir member and Cantor at mass. Since working with the tool, I am feeling that my voice has opened in my upper range, and more confident about hitting my higher notes. I hit an E flat in a piece without flinching (tough on the congregation, but that is another story). I plan to make this a regular part of my ongoing vocal training. What i would really like to see are some videos that demonstrate correct embouchure of the device, what the resistance should feel like, and some exercises that are suitable to the Cyber Tone. I have been using with any warmup that involve humming or lip trills. It seems like exercises involving consonants are not suitable, but if there is something I'm missing, I am wiling to learn. I would follow a YouTube channel of videos if it exists. Thanks!

Love the actual product. Delivery of product was long and delayed. Figures it was USPS… maybe consider ups or fed ex..
